Junk journaling

About a year ago I started getting involved with planner groups on Facebook. I’ve always tried to keep track of things; to-dos, birthdays, appointments. I use the classic Happy Planner and have made my own Traveler’s notebook.

While scrolling through one of my groups, there was a discussion about junk journals. Ok, here I go to Pinterest and YouTube and fell down the rabbit hole. I subscribed to a few YouTubers including Liz Drake. Her “Big Fatty” gave me the inspiration to make my own.

July Challenge: Day 24 – Couch Potato or Go-Getter?

Get off that couch and bust out that workout

Runners Rock

Lazy…Irresponsible…Indulgent…Couch Potato…these are not words that describe my Challengers!

It’s Friday, July 24th and Day 24 of our July Challenge! The weekend is here again and it’s time to have some fun!

Does the weekend bring on laziness for you? Do you take the easy road thinking “hey I worked hard all week so now I’m going to have a couple ‘cheat days’?”

If so, you’re erasing all the hard work you did all week. Instead of feeling like you deserve a break, think about how much more fun Monday will be if you don’t have to start over and work off the gluttony from the weekend.

Here’s a little “extra” challenge for this weekend…no not extra exercises…it’s just to be aware of what you are eating and to remember all the hard work you put in through the week. Think about a flatter belly on Monday from eating as…

The Claire Cowl–Free Crochet Pattern Inspired by Outlander

Some day I’m going to learn how to do this

The Yarn Owl

Claire Outlander CowlI’ve been obsessed with Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series since I discovered them in my first year of college (it feels like a lifetime ago!) and was unbelievably excited when I heard that Starz was developing a series based on the books! As silly as it sounds, this is something I’ve dreamed about for years, and since the tv series finally premiered a couple of months ago I’ve spent way too much time watching and re-watching every episode. While certain things are definitely different than they are in the books, as is always the case with an adaptation, I have to say I’ve fallen in love with the show and with the story all over again and am so glad the actors they found live up to what I always imagined in my head while reading!

So why am I talking about this on a crochet blog? Well, it’s not…

push your limits

Hey Challengers…it’s Wednesday…Day 15…and we are halfway through our July Challenge!!

If this your first month with us…you are already pushing your limits and you are a beast! Are you feeling stronger? Did you ever think you would get this far in a 30 day challenge?

If this is your 2nd…third…or even fourth month doing these challenges…you know that being active and getting fit is just as much a mental process as it is physical. Your body will surprise you…but you have to push your limits!

We are all inspired by Dennene’s story about pushing past her physical pain and finding that inner strength that told her she would make it. During her leg 6 “death march”, she thought of all the people in her life who supported her, about all the training that went into getting ready for her mission, and she knew it was going to take mental…

Announcement! Exciting News!

Looking forward to reading this

C.H. Armstrong Books & Blog

Well, it’s official!  After a really fun ride of querying agents and publishing houses, today I signed and mailed a contract with Penner Publishing for my first novel, The Edge of Nowhere!  I’m so excited and I couldn’t be happier!

Penner Publishing is fairly new to the publishing industry and specializes in women’s fiction.  I’ve been very pleased with the professionalism they’ve shown to me and this project.  E-mails were returned promptly, contract negotiations were easy, and now I just wait to be assigned an editor to help tighten up the story.  If all goes well, this title should be available by November 2015.

Victoria Hastings Harrison Greene knows her family despises her.  She’s even heard her grandchildren snigger behind her back about the “Immaculate Conception of David” – her fifth child, conceived between husbands.  But Victoria refuses to die before revealing the secrets she’s held locked away…
